Crabby in Krabi

After our live aboard in the Similan Islands,  we had time for one more island stop before leaving Thailand. It was a toss up between Koh Lanta (with a day trip to Koh Phi Phi) or Krabi (with rock climbing in Railay Beach). If you have been following our journey, it is not a mystery why we picked Krabi.

Unfortunately, after almost a full week of being sick, not eating, and still diving (oops), I was still sick. So our first stop in Krabi was the doctor. Yay! After chatting for just a few minutes, he prescribed me not one, but two prescriptions. And because of the severity and length of my symptoms, I also got a nice round of fluids. I then spent the next 24 hours sleeping in our hostel.

What made it worse is that I had to miss out on rock climbing – which was clearly the reason we chose this area – because I had ZERO energy. But Brandon had a great time!

By day two I had enough energy to try to get out, so we hopped a boat from Krabi to Railay. Even though I was tired, this view was worth the effort.

Sorry I meant these views. My bad…

Plus we had a really beautiful sunset! We also got to meet up with a friend from the Manta Queen for a few drinks as the sun went down. I was getting less crabby by the minute!

When it was time to head home, we were happy after having a great day. That is, until, we couldn’t get home. The only way to get to Railay Beach is to take a longboat from Krabi beach. They won’t go back until they have a minimum of 6 people on board. When we tried to catch a boat around 8 or so, we were the only two around. (Cue the onset of more crabbiness.) After waiting around an hour, two more people finally appeared and we all split the cost of the missing two people so we could get home. By this point, I was tired, crabby and a bit hangry on top of it all.

At least I had one pretty good day! Brandon got 2 days of climbing in so he was thrilled. But if we went back, we would probably stay on Railay Beach instead of in Krabi. (Or go to Koh Lanta instead.)

That’s all for now Thailand. Off to Indonesia!
